A well-known legend among the inhabitants is the so-called "Cave of a Thousand Pesos." This is a legend that has endured for a long time, passing from generation to generation without losing its popularity. They say that this cave is hidden in a great mountain, and the incredible thing is that it is not visible to everyone and only appears at specific moments.

Some say that on Good Fridays at 3 PM, the cave becomes visible, and it even opens to let in those who want to see the treasures hidden inside. The recognition given to this place is so great that many people have wanted to embark on a journey to this magical and fantastical place to verify if all those stories or anecdotes they hear are true. Some say that in the year 1908 a group of explorers made an expedition to this cave as it was known for testimonies from people and stories that spoke of a great amount of treasures found deep within. They say that this group managed to penetrate at least 100 meters, having to pass through extremely small and narrow spaces, in addition to encountering a large number of animals and insects like bats and spiders, making their experience a bit more unpleasant. But even so, they did not give up, managing to reach their destination in this way. Some people claim that they found several indigenous vaults in the place, as well as large stone halls with great walls painted with hieroglyphs. To leave a mark and as proof that they had been in the place, they decided to write their names on a plaque to be remembered by others who ventured into this magical place full of mystery.

Some time later, several groups of people also wanted to experience this by visiting the cave to verify what others were talking about. They claimed that the entrance was too small; apparently, it had closed up more over the years, becoming smaller and harder to penetrate. Just like the previous groups, they managed to reach the place, being impressed by the wonderful things they could observe. Like the previous people, they also left their names to be remembered. A large number of people claim to have entered this marvelous cave, but nothing has been scientifically proven. Some historians propose the idea that the cave of the thousand pesos was a mine used by the Spaniards during the colonization to store their treasures and protect them. Undoubtedly, a legend that has significantly marked the culture and folklore of the place.
